Substitute Courses
Other departments in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences offer courses that are strongly historical in content, and the Department of History allows you to choose some of these courses to fulfill the requirements of your program.
There are a few guidelines to using these History Substitutes in your program:
- Number: Up to 3 History Substitutes may be used in a History Specialist or Joint Specialist program. Up to 2 History Substitutes may be used in a History Major or History Minor program.
- Level: Except for 100-level courses, History Substitutes are incorporated into your History program at the same year level: ex., a 400-level History Substitute may be used as a fourth year History requirement.
- Pre-modern: History Substitutes can be used to fulfill the requirement for a premodern course. The following is a list of History Substitutes, which have been approved by the Department of History.
